Tears of All Eyes was made one year after the January 25, 2011 Revolution, after sharing the exultancy of those who ousted Mubarek in Egypt’s Tahrir Square. The work responds to the alternating radiance and eclipsing of that spirit, as fresh hopes meet persistent resistance. Optically, the work displays the persistence of vision, after images, mirages and apparitions.
Three suns flicker and pulse, circumscribed, circulating and breaking free of each other as a beast of burden periodically saunters by, oblivious to the tests of freedom.
